Meet Andrew
When I meet clients for the first time, they are often surprised to learn that I was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York. My seemingly calm and even-keeled demeanor has carried over into and is reflected in the manner in which I approach my Family Law Practice. One thing that sets me apart from other Family Law attorneys is that I am able to advocate zealously and effectively for my clients in a controlled and measured manner.
While there are fundamental similarities between certain types of cases, what I enjoy most about Family Law is that no two cases are truly alike. Family is perhaps the most personal field of law, as clients permit you to become privy to their most private life experiences. Being able to put a face to clients and truly getting to know them as individuals is what I enjoy the most about my practice.
There is a quote from To Kill A Mockingbird that says, “Atticus told me to delete the adjectives and I’d have the facts.” The emotional nature of the issues involved in Family Law seemingly invites attorneys and clients alike to focus on the “adjectives” as opposed to the actual facts of the case. While those “adjectives” serve a purpose in presenting my client’s case, the facts of the case will determine the outcome. I practice law in a manner that balances my client’s need to express their emotions while ultimately focusing on the underlying facts of the case.
My family plays a significant role in my practice of Family Law. I receive unwavering support from my wife (who is also an attorney in Charlotte) that allows me to devote the time and energy necessary to advocate for my clients. Becoming a father in 2013 has also added a new perspective that I was previously unable to appreciate. Now with two young children, being able to communicate is important. Learning to do so has greatly strengthened my skills as a lawyer, as it requires me to think outside of the box in an attempt to effectively communicate my client’s point of view and wishes. An important role that I undertake in representing my clients is being both their voice and advocate. Family Law clients are often exiting a relationship or marriage in which their voice was not heard. I am able to make their lives easier by ensuring that they now have an opportunity to express their positions.
