Meet Courtney
Empathy is the heart of advocacy.” This simple reminder has inspired me throughout my journey in law and shaped my approach to practicing family law. It has fueled my passion for serving others, guided me through my time at law school, and deepened my resolve to be a supportive advocate for families facing tough times.
Growing up in Fuquay Varina, North Carolina, I have always embraced a spirit of compassion and community. I earned my bachelor’s degree in psychology with a minor in Political Science at North Carolina State University, graduating summa cum laude in 2019. While attending NC State, I participated in several organizations, including the NC Dental Society Foundation and Camp Kesem at NC State, which aims to support children whose parents have cancer. I then pursued my Juris Doctor at the University of North Carolina School of Law. My time at law school was incredibly enriching; I served as a student attorney through the Domestic and Sexual Violence Clinic and took on the role of Guardian ad Litem in Wake County, giving a voice to children in challenging situations. I’ve also had the honor of coordinating pro bono efforts as a member of the UNC Pro Bono Board, where I helped my peers make a meaningful impact in our community. My commitment to empowering others continued as I worked with various organizations focused on domestic violence and child advocacy, a cause close to my heart.
Now, as an associate attorney at CTK, I’m thrilled to channel my skills and passion into family law. My focus on family law allows me to help clients navigate a difficult chapter in their lives, and I take pride in crafting personalized solutions that meet their unique needs. Outside of my legal work, I enjoy volunteering with the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and fostering dogs from local shelters. These experiences fill my life with purpose and joy, and they remind me of the importance of giving back. With empathy as my guiding principle, I look forward to working tirelessly for my clients and making a positive impact in our community.
